Nigerian workers have been challenged by President Muhammadu Buhari to justify the signing into law of the N30,000 national minimum wage by showing more commitment to their work.
The president said this on Thursday, April 18, shortly after signing the new wage into law, Vanguard reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Buhari also implored the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to be more understanding, as regards the country’s current socio-economic situation.
He said: “I expect them (workers) to be more committed to their work at whichever level. “I will like the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to look at the economic situation of the country, the population, the poor infrastructure that we are trying to fix in terms of roads, rail and power.
“So, I wish Nigerian workers the best of luck.”

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that the N30,000 new minimum wage was on Thursday, finally signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari who said that it is to be implemented immediately.
President Buhari's move invariably means that the signed new minimum wage bill is now a law, which ensures an upward review of the salaries of all Nigerian civil servants.
Although the National Assembly had passed the bill approving N30,000 as the minimum wage for workers, state governors had opposed the decision, claiming that they will be unable to pay workers the fixed amount.
