Nigerian Army announced that its internal security-based exercise code-named “Ex Harbin Kunama IV” will on Monday, April 1, commence in Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
Major Clement Abiade, deputy director of the Army public relations, made this known in a statement released to journalists in Sokoto. He said the exercise was scheduled to hold from 1 April to 30 June 2019.
According to him, “Furthermore, the exercise is to bolster the confidence of the people of the region to go about their daily lives unhindered under the security umbrella of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.”

Abiade asked members of the public not to panic on noticing increased movement of troops, armoured vehicles, equipment and sound of firing in designated exercise/operations area.
He assured that necessary control measures had been put in place to ensure that no one comes to harm as a result of the exercise.
Legit.ng previously reported that the 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Uyo in Akwa Ibom state embarked on a joint show of force parade ahead of the March 9 governorship and Houses Assembly elections.
Speaking to newsmen in Uyo on Saturday, March 2, during the exercise, Major Bashir Jajira, assistant director, Army Public Relations Officer, said the exercise was in conjunction with other sister security agencies in the state.
Jajira said the command would deal decisively with anyone involved in political thuggery, ballot box snatching, arson and other electoral offences.
He said the troops would move along flash point such as, Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo, Oruk Anam, Ikot Ekpene, Ikot Abasi, Oron, Eastern Obolo, Ibiono Ibom/Itu and Uyo.

He explained that the exercise was aimed at instilling confidence in the electorate to come out en masse and vote for candidates of their choice during the governorship and House of Assembly elections on March 9.
