Identified as Emily Miles, the 55-year-old woman stepped in as a surrogate for her 31-year-old daughter, Tracey Smith who was born without a womb. Tracey who was worried that she would never have a child of her own became hopeful when her mother made the decision to carry her child.
Reports reveal that Miles lost six stone in order to reach a healthy weight to get pregnant and give birth safely.The IVF process involved taking an egg from Tracey and fertilizing it with seed in a laboratory - so it could be placed into Emma's womb to grow and develop.

Against the odds, it was successful at the first attempt.On January 16, 2019, the baby who was named Evie Siân Emma Smith, was born at 7lb 7oz by Cesarean section after a routine pregnancy.
Tracey, now living in Coventry, said: "Adam and I were allowed to both stay by mum's side as Evie came into the world. It was such an incredible emotional moment. I was so nervous that everything would go well for mum and for the safe arrival of our baby."

Now Adam and Tracey are going through the legal process of formally adopting Evie.
Miles had this to say: "To find out that Tracey couldn't have children was gutting to me.She rarely felt able to open up but when I had the chance just after her diagnosis I remember sitting on her bed and saying: "I'm here if you need me. Despite my age I wasn't worried about giving birth at all. All of my focus has been about doing this special thing for my daughter. I don't feel anymore attachment to Evie than any other proud grandmother."
