Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has approved the fresh recruitment of 237 workers into the state civil service.
The spokesperson to the governor, Abdullahi Bego, disclosed in a statement on Monday, March 11, that the employment cuts across holders of BSc and MSc as well as holders of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma certificates, Daily Trust reports.
He said that out of the 237 new employees, 53 would be posted to the teaching service board, 14 to the science and technical school board, 10 to tertiary institutions in the state and the rest to ministries, departments and agencies.

The Yobe state government has also reportedly approved the sum of N249, 664, 126.83 as payment of liabilities of pension and gratuity for 250 local government retirees.
The release of the funds follows the verification of the beneficiaries by the committee set up for the payment of the retirement benefit of local government employees.

Meanwhile, former national secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Yobe state.
Professor Abubakar Musa Gundiri, INEC’s returning officer for the governorship election who made the declaration said Buni of APC emerged winner having scored the highest votes.
