Wolves beat United to reach FA Cup semi-final at the Molineux Stadium

- Wolves vs Man United saw both sides play out a barren first half on Saturday

- Raul Jimenez scored the game's opener for the Wanderers in the 70th minute of the FA Cup quarter-final

- Diogo Jota increased Wolves' lead six minutes later but Marcus Rashford scored a consolation goal for Man United in added time

Wolves vs Man United saw the home-side cruise to a 2-0 victory in the FA Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday, March 16, at the Molineux Stadium to reach the semi-finals.

The encounter saw the Red Devils makes four changes from the squad that lost to Arsenal in last weekend’s Premier League tie with shot-stopper Sergio Romero alongside the trio of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera earn at starting XI spot.

Man United had the first chance to net the opener in the 13th minute, but Marcus Rashford’s distant strike was not strong enough to trouble John Ruddy, who was spot on to make a save.

Diogo Jota was close to breaking the deadlock three minutes before the break after a through ball by Raul Jimenez’s, but Romero was on hand to make a decent save inside the penalty box, leaving scores at 0-0 after 45 minutes.

Eight minutes after hostilities commenced after break, Jimenez was close to net for Wolves with a well-executed header, but Romero smartly tipped the ball over the woodwork.

But with 20 minutes to the end of the match, Jimenez netted the opener after turning nicely, before finishing off during a goalmouth scramble in United’s penalty box.

Jota increased Wolves advantage six minutes later from a fast counter-attack as he beat Romero with a strike at his near post.

In the closing moments of the game, the referee flashed a red card on Victor Lindelöf for a sliding tackle on Jota, but after the Video Assistant Referee reviewed the incident it was rescinded.

Interestingly, Rashford netted a late goal for United in the added time, but Wolves held on to reach the semi-final

According to Metro, Manchester United displayed a top class comeback against PSG, to seal a spot in the quarter-final of the UCL.

On the other hand, Barcelona were too hot for Ligue 1 campaigners Lyon, after Lionel Messi ensued Lyon were thrashed 5-1 on aggregate.
