Ganduje thanks supporters for re-electing him, says he will deliver on promises

- Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano has thanked the people of the state for re-electing him

- Ganduje secured his re-electing by defeating Abba Yusuf of the PDP with total votes of 1,033,695

- The governor also promised the people to run an inclusive government where everyone is represented

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has appreciated the people of the state for voting him for a second term.

It should be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, March 24, declared Ganduje the winner of the Kano state governorship re-run election held on Saturday, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The governor won by polling high votes of 45,876 to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s opponent, Abba Yusuf, who scored 10,239 in the election held in 28 of the 44 local government in the state.

Professor Bello Shehu, the state returning officer, announced that Ganduje scored an overall vote of 1,033,695 which Yusuf had 1,024,713.

Ganduje also called on all everyone to work together to help the state grow and said he would be running a government where everyone is carried along.

He also thanked the people of the state for believing that he could lead the state and how they contributed to the peaceful conduct of the election.

He said: “I thank all who voted me, those that did not vote me and and those who did not vote at all.

“Girl child education, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, healthcare delivery, peace and security will be my focus in the next four years.

“I thank you for the fresh mandate and I promise to serve you better because the victory is not for me or my deputy, the victory is for the good people of Kano.‎

“As we get ready to start our second term, I urge you to continue to maintain the peace we have so far enjoyed.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the PDP rejected the declaration of Ganduje of Kano state as the governor-elect by the INEC.

The party said its candidate, Yusuf, is the rightful winner of the keenly contested election, saying any declaration that does not reflect such cannot stand.

In a statement sent to journalists by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, on Sunday, March 24, the party described the supplementary election in the state as mere figure allocating exercise by compromised INEC officials.
