Maikanti Baru, the managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Tuesday, March 19, in Abuja revealed that the body has plans to extend the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline system to Algeria.

The NNPC's boss also disclosed that the gas line extension was aimed at boosting the corporation's Africa-oriented initiative, Daily Trust reports.
Moreover, Baru said that the federal government intends to extend the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) to Morocco.
Meanwhile, Mazi Bank Anthony Okoroafor, the head of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), said that Baru will formally unveil the Nigerian Pavilion at the forthcoming Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) and will be the keynote speaker on the theme Nigeria’s Deepwater: The Journey So Far’ at the conference.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the phase 1 scope of the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) of the Nigeria Morocco Gas Pipeline was expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter (Q1) of 2019.
The disclosure was made by the minister of state for petroleum resources Dr Ibe Kachikwu, at the ongoing Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) in Abuja on Monday, January 28.
