2 Kaduna governorship candidates step down, declare support for PDP

- The governorship candidate of APGA, Polycarp Gankon and his counterpart in the LM party, Ezekiel Habila, are backing the PDP ahead of the Kaduna governorship election

- Polycarp Gankon tells the press that he and his counterpart stepped down after due consultation with their members to rescue the state from numerous challenges facing it

- Gankon calls on supporters of APGA and those of LM to massively support the PDP in the governorship election on the scheduled for March 9

Two governorship aspirants in Kaduna state have stepped down from the governorship race and declared their support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Isa Ashiru Kudan.

One of the candidates, Polycarp Gankon of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), told the press that he and his counterpart stepped down after due consultation with their members to rescue the state from numerous challenges facing it, Daily Trust reports.

“In view of this decision, we are calling on all our supporters to massively support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the governorship election on the 9th March, 2019," Gankon stated.

“We also appeal to our supporters not to be discouraged with the outcome of the Presidential election which was rigged in favour of the ruling party, we must be resolute and determined to come out enmass and vote PDP.

“We still have candidates contesting for State Houses of Assembly for some constituencies, kindly support and vote for them but for the governorship we should all vote for PDP.

The other candidate, Ezekiel Habila of the Liberation Movement (LM), urged his party supporters to move to Kaduna state and vote for PDP during the governorship election in the state on March 9.

Meanwhile, the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said he was so confident of President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the Saturday, February 23 elections based on the unprecedented achievements of his administration.

Legit.ng reports that the minister made the remarks on Thursday, February 28, in Abuja when he received the management of his ministry, who came to congratulate him on the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the presidential and National Assembly elections.

He said he had no doubt before the elections that President Buhari would have a landslide victory at the polls.
