Peter Obi, the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said his party has a workable plan to turnaround the economic challenges facing Nigeria.
Speaking with traders at the Alaba International market, Ojo, Lagos state, on Monday, February 4, Obi noted that party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had a good understanding of the economy, The Nation reports.

He said Atiku, having successfully managed the economy as vice-president in the past, added with the experience of managing several private companies successfully, would use his in-depth knowledge to tackle economic problems facing the country.
Obi said he could also draw from his experience as a former governor of Anambra state and business man, in assisting Atiku to put the economy in the path of recovery.
The former governor noted that a vote for PDP would mean that the issues of high poverty rate, unemployment and other signs of poor economy would be tacked.

Obi was accompanied on the campaign visit to the market by the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos state, Jimi Agbaje.
Meanwhile, the presidential ambition of Muhammadu Buhari has received a boost with a reported endorsement by retired military officers in the Nigerian Army, the Navy and Air Force.
A report by Daily Sun says those who endorsed Buhari for a second term include 13 major generals, eight air Vice Marshal (AVM), two Rear Admirals (RA), 12 brigadier generals, nine air commodores, eight commodores and 17 former military administrators.
It was learnt that the retired officers were led by retired Brigadier General Buba Marwa, a former military administrator of Lagos state, who also heads the presidential advisory committee for the elimination of drug abuse in the country.
