More worries for PDP as 2,000 party members, former Ondo deputy governor set to defect to APC

- Former deputy governor of Ondo state, Lasisi Olugbenga Oluboyo, is set to defect to All Progressive Congress

- Oluboyo's defection from Peoples Democratic Party was borne out of an alleged dwindling in the image of the party in the state

- At least, not less than 2,000 members of the PDP, Social Democratic Party, and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) will defect with Oluboyo

With some days to the general elections, an emerging report has claimed that the immediate deputy governor of Ondo state, Lasisi Olugbenga Oluboyo, will part his way with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pitch his tent with All Progressive Congress (APC)

Sahara reporters had reported that Oluboyo, who was the deputy governor to Olusegun Mimiko, the immediate governor of the state, has been making wide consultation with the leadership of APC following his decision to dump the opposition party.

Legit.ng gathers that the former commissioner of agriculture will openly declare his defection when the campaign visit of the President Buhari hits the state.

A source close to Oluboyo said: "Oluboyo will be announcing his defection at the MKO Democracy Park, when President Muhammadu Buhari visits Ondo state tomorrow.

"I am aware he is not pleased with the current situation in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as he is not being carried along again.

''Don't forget that his former boss, Olusegun Mimiko, has defected to another party, which is the Zenith Labor Party (ZLP), and he is even a candidate for the Senate seat.

''So I am very sure that Oluboyo will defect alongside several other former aides under Olusegun Mimiko at tomorrow's event."

Oluboyo's anticipated defection has also been confirmed by Ondo state APC chairman, Ade Adetimehin, who described the move as an indication of wide political acceptance of the party in the state.

He said: ''Yes, he is supposed to be at this meeting but he could not make it. However, he would be joining us live tomorrow and make it official in the open declaration.

"We have been talking and he's part of the discussion and I am very sure of that. In fact, that is why I mentioned his name. Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, the former deputy governor of Ondo state, is already with us and he will join us."

According to inside source, no less than 2,000 members of the PDP, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) would decamp to APC when president takes his campaign train to the state.
