British TV host Adesope Olajide claims that without Wizkid there would be no Davido or Burna Boy

Without a doubt, Nigerian music is now enjoyed by a large number of audience all over the world. Some entertainers have successfully been able to take our music outside the shores of the country and many foreign acts now want to associate with the country.

However the popularity of Nigerian music has raised a number of arguments among music critics who tussle over who made the country’s music popular.

Nigerian music stars, Davido and Wizkid are no doubt one of the country's top artistes but fans are not content with that as they often tussle over who should be identified as the superior celebrity.

The entertainment industry is a fickle one and an individual who was initially considered the best thing can easily be usurped and his claim to fame being taken over by a newer act. Perhaps this is why fans try their best to announce their achievements at all times.

British TV host, Adesope Olajide, in an interview with DJ Abass, claims that Wizkid paved the way for other Nigerian musicians. According to him, the Ojuelegba crooner is responsible for creating a young fan base for musicians. He even likened it to the Justin Bieber era.

Adesope said: “He was the first young pop act in Africa to develop a young audience. The Justin Bieber type of era. He came into the scene and inspired Davido and everybody else. Without Wizkid’s initial success, there would be no David, there would be no Burna, there will be nobody else, because at that time, young kids of his age were not allowed to make music and become big stars in Africa.”

Meanwhile Legit.ng previously reported that Davido proved to fans that his recently held concert at the O2 Arena in London was sold out.

The 20,000 capacity event center has become a symbol for many Nigerian artistes that they are indeed taking over the world.
