Benue APC divided over presidential campaign funds

- Campaign fund has reportedly divided the Benue state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

- Some party chieftains were reportedly sidelined on the eve of the postponed elections, when campaign funds were distributed

- A cabal within the state APC was said to have outsmarted others and shared the funds among its members

The Benue state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly divided over funds released for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to reports, some party chieftains were reportedly sidelined on the eve of the postponed elections, when funds were distributed at the Makurdi home of the director general of Jime-Ode campaign organisation, Chief Tilley Gyado.

The Nation reported that a cabal within the state APC was said to have outsmarted others and shared the funds among its members.

The news outlet reports further the the situation led to grievances and divided loyalty, which prompted some members to vow to work against the party at the postponed polls.

However, the party’s state leader, Senator George Akume, has been urged to take charge of logistics ahead of Saturday’s polls to avoid another conflict.

Meanwhile, Peter Ogwuche, a chiftain of the party claimed that the APC campaign in Benue state was being managed like a cult.

He said: “There is no publicity. You don’t even see journalists around them. No one got to know of APC presence in Benue state.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that unknown gunmen over the weekend assassinated Boniface Okloho, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohimini local government area of Benue state, while he was returning from a party function.

Police spokesperson in the state, Moses Yamu, confirmed the killing and said investigation into the murder has started.

The APC governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, also confirmed the killing and called for security operatives to get justice for Okloho.
