Chatham House, an international affairs think tank based in London, in partnership with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, is launching an online platform – Common Futures Conversations – facilitating dialogue between young people in Africa and Europe.
Designed and driven by them, the platform provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and influence international decision-making towards improving outcomes for citizens.
While politics in Nigeria is still dominated by older people, there is growing demand among young people for greater inclusion in politics.
More than half of Nigeria’s estimated 182 million population is under 30 years of age and INEC reports that 22 out of the 84 million registered voters are students.
As domestic and international policy become increasingly interdependent, it is important to create policy spaces for young people across the world to connect, exchange ideas and influence decision making on contemporary issues affecting their common futures.
The first stage of the project is a survey of the political attitudes of young people in Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Mozambique, Norway, Romania, Tunisia, the United Kingdom and Zambia. If you are between the ages of 18-35, they want to get your opinion on the political challenges that matter to you in order to design an inclusive platform.
