- A young man identified as Chimezie Dike has been stabbed to death for pasting political posters in Port Harcourt
- He was killed while pasting campaign posters said to belong to All Progressives Congress candidate in the state
- The attacker, Henry, was also reported to have sustained injury and currently at the hospital receiving medical attention amid a team of watching policemen
Diobu community of Port Harcourt in Rivers state has been thrown into mourning following the killing of a young man identified as Chimezie Dike, who was reportedly stabbed to death by an angry attacker.
The Punch reports that the deceased, who was said to be in his early 20s, was killed by one Henry Ekeozor during a fight that ensued between the two when the victim was pasting campaign posters on a building wall.
Legit.ng gathers that the unfortunate incident happened around 8.20pm at 40B Azikiwe street, Mile 2, Diobu community of Rivers state.

Emerging report claims that Dike, a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) was pasting the posters of Collyns Owondah, a House of Representatives candidate of the party on the building, which was said to belong to unnamed APC woman leader in the state.
The attacker, Henry, was said to have earlier told the deceased not to paste posters on the building wall. The insistence of Dike led to fracas between the two, resulting to his stabbing on the chest.
The victim, Chimezie Dike, was reported to have given up the ghost when being taken to a nearby hospital in the pool of his blood.
Recounting how the incident happened, a witness said: “The woman (Ifeoma Ekeozor) is a woman leader in the APC, while the man, whose campaign posters were being posted, is also of the same political party, but they belong to different factions of the party.
“The young man pasting the campaign poster was Chimezie Dike from the Nwangele local government area of Imo state. The boy came to the street to paste the posters of a politician running for an election.
“In the process, the son of the woman leader began to quarrel with him and within a short time, the son of the woman stabbed Chimezie. He (Chimezie) died before he got to the hospital.”
Adding to the story, another witness said the dagger used for the stabbing belonged to Henry's brother, who is a soldier He added that the incident generated into crisis as angry mob burst in to ransack the house.
He said: “The woman (Ifeoma Ekeozor) even broke a bottle during the argument. Everybody parked out of the house because a group of youths, who were not happy about the killing of the boy, went ahead to ransack people’s houses.
“A journalist staying in the building lost some of her property, including a laptop, after she left the place in a hurry to avoid being injured. The house is a three-storey building and the shop operated by the woman (Ifeoma) is on the ground floor.
“The young man pasting the poster, the woman and her son are all APC supporters, but they belong to different factions. He (Chimezie) was rushed to the hospital that night, while the mother of the attacker was arrested the same day by policemen from the Azikiwe Police Station.”
The source also said the attacker was also injured in the course of the fight and has been admitted to the hospital where police men are monitoring his condition.
Reacting, the state police public relations officer, Nnamdi Omoni, said he was aware of the incident but has not been properly briefed.
