The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, January 7, announced the immediate suspension of its Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Gamawa Babayo.
Babayo was suspended over alleged involvement in anti-party activities, according to the PDP.
Daily Trust reports that the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said in a statement on Monday night that the decision was reached at the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) extra-ordinary meeting held on the 5th of January, 2019.

Ologbodiyan said: “The NWC found merit in the petition on allegation of dereliction of duty and anti-party activity as contained in Section 58 (1) e, f, g, h of the PDP Constitution.
“Therefore, in exercise of section 29 (2) a, b and c, the NWC hereby invokes Section 59 (1) d of the constitution of the PDP on the Deputy National Chairman (North) and accordingly suspends him from the party immediately."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Fulani Socio-Cultural groups in Taraba on Monday endorsed the candidatures of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Gov Darius Ishaku as their preferred choices in the Presidential and Governorship elections holding February 16 and March 2.

Alhaji Mafindi Danburam, North-East Zonal Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, who led the groups and their Ardos (Chiefs), to endorse Ishaku and Atiku in Jalingo, said that the decision was “in the best interest of Fulani speaking people in Nigeria”.
