Out of favour Chelsea superstar seals three and a half year deal with French League side

- Cesc Fabregas joins French League side Monaco on a three and a half year deal

- The former Barcelona star had endured limited playing time at the Bridge before exiting the club this month

- He featured in his last game for the Blues in their 2-0 EFL Cup win over lower league side Nottingham Forest last weekend

French League giants AS Monaco have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas on a three and a half year deal as a free agent.

The Spaniard played his last game for the Blues in their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend in the 3rd round stage of this season's EFL Cup.

While he was able to record just one goal in 14 appearances in all competitions this campaign for the London club.

However, his deal to the Ligue 1 side will see him re-unite with his former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry, who is in charge of the club as reported by BBC.

Fabregas joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014, having played 303 times for Arsenal between 2003 and 2011.

After joining his new club side, Fabregas described the move as "a new project", calling it a "great honour". "I'm here to help the team, I'm looking forward to starting. I am very excited," he added.

The publication further revealed that Monaco have not paid a fee for Fabregas but will pay 'bonuses' to Chelsea linked to his performances.

During his reign in England, the Spaniard won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a League Cup in 501 appearances in English football.

His tenure at the Emirates Stadium saw him win the FA Cup and also played in the 2006 Champions League final, which they lost to Barcelona, before joining the Catalan giants in 2011.

Writing on social media, Fabregas later paid tribute to Chelsea and the club's fans: "It has been an incredible journey and it is with great sadness that I must say goodbye," he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea were not to sell Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas until they buy a good replacement for the ex Arsenal captain.

Fabregas has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and appeared to wave goodbye to fans after Chelsea were forced to a goalless draw at home by Southampton.

He has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco with reports claiming that the deal has been agreed between the two clubs.
