Nigerians testifying to positive changes - Buhari says as Calabar monarch endorses him

- President Buhari said Nigerians are bearing witness that his administration has brought about positive changes

- Buhari said this at the palace of the Obong of Calabar

- The president also commended the Calabar monarch for acknowledging major positive changes the APC-led administration has delivered

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, January 30 in Calabar, Cross River state, said Nigerians can bear witness that his administration has brought about positive changes “in terms of security, economy and fight against corruption.”

The president, in a statement by the special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said: “Nigerians are our witness that things are not the same way they used to be in terms of security, economy and fight against corruption.”

According to The Nation, President Buhari also commended the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu, for reportedly acknowledging major positive changes the APC-led administration has delivered since 2015.

Legit.ng gathered that the president also assured the monarch of his commitment to delivering more projects and policies that will impact the lives of the Nigerian masses.

Speaking at the palace of the Obong of Calabar, President Buhari noted: “I am happy His Majesty is well briefed and informed about what we have been doing and has been honest in speaking out.”

Buhari added that the people living in states in the northeastern part of the country have also experienced relief as a result of the his government’s anti-Boko Haram fight just as he said workers and farmers are benefitting from his administration’s programmes.

He promised that money saved from cutting the dependence on food import will be used for building more infrastructure.

The president reiterated his commitment to continue his administration’s war against corruption, adding that all those found to have abused trust will be prosecuted.

In his remarks, the Calabar monarch told President Buhari that Cross River state had enjoyed the federal government’s goodwill in road constructions, government appointments and commissioning of a naval hospital in Calabar.

The monarch specifically commended President Buhari for completing abandoned projects in his domain and across the country and initiating new ones.

He said the Calabar-Ogoja-Katsina Ala road projects and the Calabar-Uyo-Aba road projects would really ease the livelihood of Nigerians, urging the president to also complete the dredging of Calabar port in his second term.

The Obong after thanking the president for his achievements in the state and endorsed his 2019 re-election bid.

“I wish to say thank you for your great works. We have been looking for the opportunity to come closer and say thank you. We wish you well.

“I have blessed you naturally for the forthcoming elections and we hope by God’s making you will get a second term and continue with your good work,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state urged the people of the state to re-elect President Buhari and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Ganduje made the appeal on Wednesday, January 30, in Kano when members of Buhari Support Group paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House.‎

He charged Nigerians to reflect on the gains made by President Buhari to make informed choice, so as to move the country to the new levels of development.‎ ‎

The governor also tasked Kano residents on peaceful, orderly campaigns and elections, adding that he is seeking for re-election to consolidate on his achievement.‎
