Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara, state was rushed to safety from a rally in Ilorin on Sunday, January 14, after a band of thugs released gunshots in the direction of a packed audience, Nigerian Tribune reports.

Not less than persons were badly wounded, with a number of vehicles damaged, as many in a confused state fled the venue.
Confirming the development, the Nigerian Police Force, through its spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, affirmed that the thugs went on the rampage in Ilorin and disrupted the rally held by the ruling party in the state.

Moshood said: “As we speak, the situation report from Kwara State Police Command was that the APC holding a Governorship campaign rally at Agbaji in Ilorin came under a sudden attack by suspected PDP thugs, who disrupted the rally, damaged five vehicles and some Keke Napep and wounded two innocent people.”
Moreover, concerning the alleged attack by the police on the family of the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, Moshood stated: “The family house of the Senate President was not attacked as being peddled in some social media.”

On his part, Abdulrazak said: “Today’s attack on us during our rally in Ode Alfa Nda shouldn’t shake us rather we should see it as one of the last attempts of a drowning dynasty to stay alive by clutching at anything including violence. Their time is up, they just don’t know it yet.”
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported that Saraki on Friday, January 11, raised concern over his safety and those of his political supporters in his state, Kwara.
Saraki, who is the director-general of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign organisation, at a news conference in Abuja, accused the security agencies of giving cover to people who were unleashing violence on the supporters of the PDP across the state.
