Elections: Kick Buhari out, he doesn't understand the economy - Atiku's wife tells Nigerians

- The wife of the PDP presidential candidate said Buhari lacks knowledge of the economy and should not be allowed to realise his second term ambition

- Mrs Abubakar said the current government had devastated the economy and that Nigeria must be reorganised by bringing in competent managers

Hajiya Titi Atiku Abubakar, wife of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has appealed to Nigerians to “kick out” President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 election, saying his government has lost its way.

Mrs Abubakar made the comment while speaking at an event in Nigeria, with theme: ‘Kick Out Hunger, Kick Out APC’, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Atiku's wife also expressed opposition to the emergence of Mrs Amina Zakari as chairperson of the Presidential Election Collation Centre Committee, saying, “we don’t want Amina Zakari in the collation room.”

She said Nigerians should not allow President Buhari realise his second term ambition, in order to avoid shutting down the nation. According to Mrs Abubakar, the president lacks knowledge of the economy.

She said: “We are going to get Nigeria working again; people are hungry. Hunger is causing many of our children to go into prostitution. It has become clear that the current political establishment has lost its way and Nigerians have to endure the epic disappointment.

“The president himself, I don’t think he knows the economy. The government has devastated the economy and we must reorganise Nigeria by bringing in competent managers.

“We want Amina Zakari out of that place so that everybody will be ‘Atikulated’. Why is Buhari not signing the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law? It is because of the rigging they want to do. But we should vote on that day and defend our votes. We must ensure our votes counted.

“We are flagging off a campaign on how women, especially those at the grassroots, will vote during the elections."

Also present at the event were the wives of prominent political leaders in the PDP, including Mrs Toyin Saraki, wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki and Mrs Gimbiya Yakubu Dogara, wife of the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

This development follows a previous report by Legit.ng that Hajiya Titi Abubakar accused President Muhammadu Buhari of persecuting her husband in the 80's.

Mrs Abubakar said her husband, who was a Customs officer back then, was victimised for insisting on inspecting the controversial 53 suitcases imported into the country by a first class northern traditional ruler during the military administration headed by Buhari.
