- Nigerian players were snubbed as CAF named best XI team for the year 2018
- Liverpool duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are in the team of the year
- Arsenal striker Pierre Aubameyang also made the list announced
Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi were on Tuesday night, January 8, snubbed as CAF named the best African XI players for the year 2018.
No Nigerian player was named in the team of the year as the likes of William Troost-Ekong, Ahmed Musa and Iheanacho were also ignored by CAF.
The trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre Aubameyang were named in the African's best X1 for the year 2018.
Mohamed Salah was impressive last season for Liverpool scoring 32 Premier League goals and also helped his team to reach the final of the 2017/18 Champions League.
Manchester City forward Rihad Mahrez also made the team of the year as announced by CAF in Senegal.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah was named as the 2018 African best player of the year in a ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal on Tuesday night, January 8.
The announcement was made by CAF who are the African's football governing body as the Egypt international defeated Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal star Emerick Aubameyang to win the award.
Salah also beat these two players last year for him to win the player of the year award for the first time in his career.
