Recall that President Buhari promised Nigerians that money from the treasury would not be used to finance the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign.

In a couple of tweets on Wednesday, January 9, the president said he had made his intention clear to government workers.

Buhari said the clean-up of campaign financing in Nigeria is one of the legacies he would like to leave behind.

The president expressed optimism that Nigerians will no longer be swayed by money politics.

He wrote: “I have made it clear to Government officials that there will be no money from the treasury for use in the 2019 campaign. I will not authorize that. One of the legacies I would like to leave behind is the clean-up of campaign financing in Nigeria."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO), Lagos state chapter, said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s character and achievements can earn him a return to presidency in 2019.

The group made this known on Saturday, January 12, in a statement jointly signed by Abdulwaheed Odunuga and Adekunle Aderibigbe, the state coordinator and secretary of BYO, respectively.

The group was reacting to the allegation of non-performance of the Buhari-led federal government by the campaign team of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

While addressing party supporters in Lafia Square, Nasarawa state, on Thursday, January 10, Prince Uche Secondus, the national chairman of PDP, had urged Nigerians to elect Abubakar.

Secondus had challenged President Buhari to come out and engage the people on his record of performance, if any and “stop hiding in the Villa”.
