Actress Stella Damasus spews insults after trolls attack her for defending gay actor Jussie Smollett

Nollywood actress Stella Damasus has been off the radar of the Nigerian entertainment scene for a while. Recently, however, the actress got entangled in a web of trolling by her Nigerian fans. The issue that had triggered the trolls to feast on her had everything to do with the recent Jussie Smollett saga trending for a while.

As earlier reported by Legit.ng, Bobrisky took to showing empathy to Jussie Smollett, an American gay actor known for his role in Empire, who claimed that he had been assaulted and harassed by two men. These men had thrown insults at him for being black and gay.

While efforts are being made to identify the men who had accosted the handsome actor, several people have taken to weighing in on the issue. In this regard, Stella Damasus also gave her opinion on the issue

She condemned the unnecessary attack on the actor and asserted that no one had any reason to harass him. The actress also expressed her wish that the attackers be found and punished for their offence.

Read her words below:

"I strongly believe that ignorance is worse than illiteracy. When one is considered an illiterate in certain things, then there is hope of learning and acquiring knowledge. On the other hand when one is ignorant, they think they already know but painfully, what they think they know is so wrong and off the point. This is a sad situation because their minds are closed to learning anything. Sometimes it’s easier to get pissed off at these people but I think what I feel now is pity. Anyone who thinks it’s okay for someone to be attacked because of their race, religion or sexual preference should pls click the unfollow button. Make it easier for us so that I don’t have to waste my time blocking you.

"Anyone who uses the BIBLE to preach HATE should not even be on my follow list. Please where in the Bible did God say you should beat up or attack anyone who has a different preference? When did we become judge? Is it just me or are we, as Christians not asked to love one another? When the devil takes over your life, he doesn’t make you worship him, he makes you negate the word of God. So all those ignorant ones coming to my page to spew their rubbish pls leave this page.

"You don’t belong here. Same goes for those who keep coming to my page to ask why I don’t talk about Nigerian things or help Nigerian people. Were you sleeping when I started speaking up for things? Were you high when I went on international television to go up against a senator talking about our little girls? Were you unable to get data to see how some of us have worked to help in areas of education?

"Like i said, kindly unfollow. I would rather have 10 reasonable followers who are sensible and forward thinking than have hundreds of thousands who are ignorant, stagnant and lazy in the brain. I have had to block and delete some hateful comments and speeches on my page. So now I am pleading for people who show their ignorant hatred for others to save me the stress and just unfollow."

Stella Damasus has shown that she has no free time to play around with trolls. Recently, Tonto Dikeh also took to addressing trolls who attacked her when she sympathised with and asked that the hate crime done against Jussie Smollett be avenged.
