Abductors of APC House of Assembly candidate in Edo speak, reaches out to victim’s family

- The abductors of an APC candidate in Edo state reportedly open discussions with the victim's family members

- The kidnappers are demanding for an undisclosed amount of money as ransom

- The commissioner of police in Edo confirms the abduction of the politician and says there could be an insider involvement

Days after he was kidnapped, the abductors of Michael Ohio-Ezomo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Owan West constituency of the Edo state House of Assembly, have opened discussion with his family.

Daily Sun reports that the kidnappers made a demand for an amount which was not undisclosed by the family members.

The report quoted a family member as saying:“After a long wait, the kidnappers have finally opened up for discussion.

“They called yesterday but for security reasons, I will not be able to disclose what they are asking so that we will not jeopardise our wish for our breadwinner to be freed."

The report quoted the commissioner of police in Edo state, Hakeem Odumosu, as confirming the abduction of the politician suggesting that there could be a link with insiders.

According to the commissioner, the information is hinged on the fact that one of the three abductors who entered the compound wore a hood and hand gloves to beat forensic investigation.

Legit.ng earlier reported how the unknown gunmen abducted the Michael Ohio-Ezomon in his house at Eme-Ora, Owan West local government area of the state.

The chairman of the local government, Frank Illaboya, who confirmed this to newsmen in Eme-Ora on Thursday, January 24, said Ohio-Ezomon was abducted by three gunmen around 1am.

According to Illaboya, the candidate’s police orderly was killed by the abductors who whisked him away through the window.

He said: “Our candidate in the forthcoming election has been abducted by three gunmen at his house at about 1:am this morning.

“The orderly attached to him was killed and our candidate was taken away by gunmen through the window.

“As I speak to you now, there has been no contact from the abductors.''

It also reported that the Akwa Ibom police command on Monday, December 31, confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers and two notorious cultists terrorising Eket local government area and it’s environs in the area.

Odiko MacDon, the state police public relations officer disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket local government area of Akwa Ibom.

MacDon said that investigation was ongoing on the matter and that the suspected were arrested between last week and Dec. 31.
