Why Nigerians cannot take the APC and Buhari seriously any longer - Atiku

- Atiku Abubakar has accused opposition party, APC, of luring voters with the promise of 2023 presidency

- The PDP presidential candidate said the Buhari presidency is desperate to return to power and willing to bid anything in exchange for votes

Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said Nigerians can't take Muhammadu Buhari's presidency seriously anymore because the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), is trying to lure voters by promising their tribe presidency in 2023.

In a statement signed by spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Kassim Afegbua, Atiku said Nigerians can no longer take APC or the Buhari presidency serious.

The PDP presidential candidate said this after Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Boss Mustapha, that the South-East will get its turn in 2023 after President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term in office.

He said: “In its desperation to hang on to power, despite its abysmal failure so far, APC and the Presidency have resorted to trading with the lure of 2023 Presidency, promising South East and South-West of 2023 Presidency in exchange for votes.

“Giving out two promises has exposed the insincerity and dubious intention of the Buhari-led Federal Government with the people of the South-East and South-West geopolitical zones with empty promises of bequeathing power to the two zones at the same time in 2023.

"This is why Nigerians cannot take the APC and the Buhari Presidency seriously any longer, as we prepare for the 2019 election.”

Osinbajo appealed to ethnic sentiments as he met the Alaafin of Oyo in Ibadan, urging the Yoruba to work for the success of Buhari in 2019.

The vice president, argued that it would take a long time for a Yoruba person to get the presidency if Mr Buhari fails to return in 2019.
