The governor of Bauchi, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, has claimed that his state is the safest in the northeast region and one of the most peaceful in Nigeria, Daily Trust reports.

In his Christmas message on Tuesday, December 25, the governor pledged that his government will “certainly deal with any attempt to disrupt our peaceful disposition by anybody or group of individuals.”
Abdullahi pointed out that the key objective of a responsible government is to ensure security of lives and property of its citizens, adding that he will do his utmost to focus on security and the economic wholeness in the state.
“It is gratifying to note that this is the safest state in the northeast region and one of the safest in the country. We will continue to intensify efforts to ensure the maintenance of this status and indeed strive to improve.
People can go about their daily businesses without any distress. I will however use this medium to appeal to all and sundry to support and cooperate with the Government by giving useful information about criminals and their hideouts,” he said.
Abdullahi remarked that his administration is devoted to providing a conducive atmosphere for all to interact freely. He also urged Christians to use the teachings of Jesus Christ and the lessons of Christmas to propagate peace especially as the 2019 general elections approach.
Speaking further, the governor made a clarion call for respect and peace even in the midst of differences in all ramifications of life.

“The commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ which is a yearly event provides us with the opportunity to express our gratitude to God through prayers and show love to one another as well as foster unity among ourselves,” he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, December 25, said its troops had repelled attack coordinated by Boko Haram insurgents at a military formation in Kukareta, Damaturu local government area of Yobe state.
In a statement, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, the deputy director, Army public relations, said the insurgents had on Monday, December 24, around 6: 30 pm, attacked a Military Forward Operational Base, in Kukareta community of Yobe.
Nwachukwu said that the gallant troops engaged the insurgents in fierce battle and repelled the attack, killing many of them, adding that a soldier was wounded in the attack.
