Recruitment: Army raises alarm, warns Nigerians against fraudulent advertisement

- The Nigerian Army has called the attention of Nigerians to fraudulent online advertisement by people it said were using its name for fraud

- The security arm also said the form into the Nigerian Army is free and accessible through its official portal

- It also cautioned members of the public about some personalities parading themselves as its officers

The Nigerian Army has called the attention of Nigerians to what it termed fraudulent recruitment advertisement spread across the social media platform by some unknown men.

In a statement available on its Facbook page, HQ Nigerian Army, the security arm cautioned Nigerians against parading the agents of fraud using its name perpetrate online fraud.

Legit.ng gathers from the statement that the Nigerian Army also disclosed it does not provide any phone number "for access to help or information on WhatsApp for the 78RRI," adding that its application form is free.

The statement read: "This is to inform the general public of some fraudulent advertisement making rounds as the official Nigerian Army (NA) advertisement for the 78 Regular Recruit Intake (RRI). The ad also displays fraudulent numbers as WhatsApp lines for help and information.

"The general public is kindly advised to disregard this ad as it is a fraud and not from the NA. The NA did not provide any phone number for access to help or information on WhatsApp for the 78RRI.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the registration web portal for 78RRI for trades/non-tradesmen and women is accessible on http://bit.ly/1SNzr9i and most importantly, application into the NA is free."

The Nigerian Army also gave links to its official social media pages and domain. It urged members of the public share the information to avoid leading people into the plan of internet scammers.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian Army had announced the opening of its portal for recruitment into the army for interested Nigerians.

In a post by the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, December 19, it called on those interested in serving their fatherland to apply.
