Nigerians decry lawmakers' conduct at Buhari's 2019 budget presentation - Legit.ng poll

- Nigerians have aired their views about the behaviours of lawmakers during President Muhammadu Buhari's recent 2019 budget presentation

- For the most part, the conduct of the legislators was seen as disappointing, childish and way below expectation

- On social media, many Nigerians believe that President Buhari deserves respect from those are custodians of the law

The conduct and behaviour of lawmakers at the National Assembly during President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, December 19, have been greeted with several reactions and comments from Nigerians.

President Buhari's speech was punctuated with cheers from his supporters and jeers from his detractors. The chamber was filled with shouts from lawmakers to the amazement of most Nigerians.

A recent poll by Legit.ng revealed that many persons in the country disapproved of the development, adding that the president, being the number citizen in the country, deserves a better treatment, especially from those who are seen to have a better understanding of the law.

However, some Nigerians believe that the development was a demonstration of democracy, claiming that the lawmakers have the right to express their opinions and views about the Buhari-led administration.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that with about 81 days to the 2019 general elections and the emergence of various candidates after the conclusion of the primaries by all registered political parties, there had been a series of allegations and counter-allegations involving major candidates.

The most notable, as the elections draw nearer, was the unending political battle between the supporters of Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

While the supporters of President Buhari accused Atiku of corruption and ask him to visit the United States to prove he is clean, the supporters of the PDP presidential candidate accused President Buhari of not having a WAEC certificate, constantly questioning his educational competence.
