Nigeria has suffered another great loss - Saraki, Nigerians mourn as gunmen kill ex-security chief Alex Badeh

The president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, late Tuesday, December 18, expressed shock over the murder of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, saying that the country had suffered another great loss with the passing of the military officer.

Badeh was reportedly assassinated along Abuja-Keffi road. He died inside his car.

In his reaction, Saraki said: “‏Nigeria has suffered another great loss with the passing of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

“My heartfelt prayers go to his family and our Armed Forces at this tragic time. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest. Amin.”

Most Nigerians who have reacted are also calling for investigation into the murder of the former security chief.

Reacting also, renowned professor of law and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, said: "Tonight, it appears former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, may have become the latest victim of insecurity in Nigeria. He has reportedly been fatally injured on his way back from his farm in Keffi, near Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory."

Legit.ng had reported how Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, a former chief of defence staff in the Jonathan administration, was shot dead.

The former defence boss was killed when his vehicle was attacked while he was returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi road.

In an earlier reaction, Senator representing Bayelsa east constituency condemned the killing of Alex Badeh by some unknown gunmen..

Bruce in a tweet said the country is only currently interested in political arguments involving the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party and have failed to notice that Nigeria is failing. Also condemning the consistent killing of soldiers and prominent Nigeria, the Senator queried the real cause of these mishaps.
