Meet an Arsenal fan who predicted the Gunners unbeaten run 3 months ago

- Arsenal's 22 match unbeaten run came to an end this weekend after losing 3-2 to Southampton at Saint Mary's

- Ings and Mkhitaryan both scored brace in the game but Charlie Austin's stunner handed the Saints the winner

- However, a Gunners' fan was said to have predicted the unbeaten run even before their game against Cardiff in early September

Arsenal's 22 match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end last weekend following their 3-2 defeat to Southampton at Saint Mary's Stadium.

Danny Ings and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both score two goals each for their side but a Charlie Austin's stunner in the 85th minute ensured the Gunners tasted their first defeat since September.

SunSport however reports that a fan of the north London side had predicted the club would go on a 22-game unbeaten run way back at the start of September.

The un-named fan branded as "time travelling genius" while speaking to AFTV's YouTube channel following the Gunners' 3-2 win against Cardiff confidently stated the club would embark on a brilliant run.

He originally spoke about centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, and how the German World Cup winner failed to lose in his opening 22-games for the North London side.

And as he lauded his talents, he boldly predicted his team were about to do something special yet again, while other fans mocked his claim.

Speaking of Mustafi, he said: "When he first come to Arsenal, Arsenal went 22 games unbeaten." Before adding: "I think we will go another 22 games unbeaten."

AFTC host Robbie then joked, "Well don't get carried away", which drew laughs from both Gunners and Bluebirds supporters.

Arsenal fans couldn't believe his prediction when commenting on a Reddit thread, as one said: "The way he laughs, but on the inside he knows he's a time travelling genius."

While another messaged: "He can help me in my FPL predictions."

Another quipped: "I'm calling witchcraft, what a ridiculous thing to call."

Paddy Power also said that Arsenal were 150/1 to embark on the long run, but no punters took them up on the offer.

A spokesman said: "The idea of Arsenal going on a 22-game unbeaten run, especially after their start of the season, would’ve been a real long-shot.

Sadly, no punters backed this, but quite a few did back them for the top four, which is a lot more likely now than it was back in August."

The result leaves the North Londoners in fifth spot - three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and five points behind bitter rivals Tottenham.

Legit.ng recalls that Arsenal's 22-match unbeaten run in all competitions ended following a 3-2 defeat to Southampton in St.Mary's.

The Gunners were the first to ask questions in the opening exchanges as a through ball for Matteo Guendouzi found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the Gabonese striker forced a good save from Alex McCarthy.

But it was the Saints who drew first blood in the 20th minute after Matt Targett delivered a perfect-inch cross to Danny Ings who headed home to make it 1-0.
