- Herdsmen group, Miyetti Allah, has accused immigrant herdsmen of tarnishing the image of the group
- The group claimed that violent attacks reportedly perpetrated by herdsmen are in fact coordinated by immigrants cattler herders
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breaders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) over the weekend, accused immigrants herdsmen from neighbouring countries of perpetrating violent attacks and putting the blame on indigenous Fulani herders.
Daily Trust reports that the chairman of MACBAN, Giwa Council, Ibrahim Abubakar, who spoke at a retreat organized for the leaderships of the group from 23 councils of the state on security challenges encountered by cattle rearers in the state, said the immigrants herdsmen are tarnishing the image of the indigenous herdsmen.

Abubakar said: “Not all Fulanis are bad, there are many good people among us, but those pastoralists coming from neighbouring countries are the ones spoiling our name. We are people of integrity and good character, but these people have come and damaged our reputation."
He also lamented about bandits attacks and cattle rustling as some of the problems facing herdsmen.
“The bandits are always coming to kill us and rustle away our cows. They have been coming to destroy our properties as well. This issue has become a critical one that requires state of emergency," he said.
The state chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Haruna Usman, who also spoke at the event urged his members to be vigilant and fish out evil perpetrators in their area.

Usman said: “We, from Miyetti Allah, are distancing ourselves from the insecurity issues, and we have been calling on our people to ensure that if they are living with someone whose ways are not pure, they should notify the security agents and if they are afraid of informing security agents, they should come and tell us so that we can do that."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore on Monday, December 3, cautioned the security agencies and civilians against attacking Malian herders grazing their cattle in Gudu and Tangaza local government areas of Sokoto state.
Alhassan Saleh, secretary-general of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, said the Malian herders’ presence in the country was nothing to worry about, as they were only grazing their cattle, a tradition he said they had been performing annually for the past 100 years.
