- The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law has urged Pope Francis to invite Fr Mbaka for retraining at the Vatican
- The group insisted that it had become necessary to retrain the priest in order to save the Catholic Church from hate and embarrassment
- It said Mbaka must be transformed from a ‘trader-priest’ to a priest of scholarship and eminent spiritual background
The leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has been asked by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, to invite Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, to the Vatican for retraining.
The group made the call on Sunday, December 9, following the recent controversy generated by Mbaka’s encounter with the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi, where the priest reportedly said that Obi and the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, might not win in 2019, Punch reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the group insisted that it had become necessary to retrain the priest in order to save the Catholic Church from hate and embarrassment; even though Mbaka had reportedly apologized to Obi.
The group stated: “For the purpose of saving the image of the Mother Church and the people of good conscience, Father Mbaka is in dire need of pastoral study and sanctification classroom leave.
“He is also in dire need of fresh ideas, including post priesthood bachelor’s degree or post graduate studies and qualifications.
“He must be transformed from a ‘trader-priest’ to a priest of scholarship and eminent spiritual background and not allowed to return to Nigeria until he completes a doctorate in any chosen or assigned discipline.”
The group further stated that the Catholic Church has a key role to play in reducing the level of materialism in most modern day churches.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that following the controversies that trailed a viral video showing him trying to extract monetary commitment from Peter Obi, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka claimed that God deserves money.
Mbaka argued that some people were ingrates, despite the fact that they were blessed after attending his programme.
