Christmas: Since Jesus died for all of humanity, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any citizen - Jonathan

- Goodluck Jonathan has called on Nigerians to show love to each other

- The ex-president prayed that the Christmas spirit will reinvigorate the people's sense of patriotism

- As Nigeria enters the final stretch of the electioneering period, Jonathan called on all to pray for the country

As Christians all over the world celebrate Christmas, former president Goodluck Jonathan has felicitated with Nigerians.

In his Christmas message posted on his Facebook wall, the ex-president said we are the recipients of God’s grace in the form of Jesus Christ who is the reason for this season. He urged everyone to reciprocate God’s love for us by loving each other and loving Nigeria.

"The eternal beauty of Christmas is the good tiding that the Son of God came to dwell amongst us and that that singular act is worth commemorating because He has reconciled us to God forever.

"I pray that the Christmas spirit will reinvigorate our sense of patriotism in our political, economic and social life, because we as Nigerians can only win if we win together.

"We indeed faced severe challenges in 2018, but as we celebrate Christmas and our hope for tomorrow, I am convinced that God will bless our collective efforts and we will usher in better days of prosperity ahead as a nation," the statement read.

Jonathan urged all Nigerians to pray for the country and especially for the final stretch of the electioneering period which will begin immediately after the Christmas season.

"We must all remember that since Jesus died for all of humanity, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any citizen.

"On behalf of my family, I Goodluck Ebele Jonathan wishes you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. May God bless Nigeria," he added.
