Chelsea set to swap Alvaro Morata for top Italian League striker in January

- Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain agrees to join Chelsea on loan until the end of the season

- The deal also states that Alvaro Morata will move to the San Siro during January transfer window

- Sarri is exploring all opportunities to improve his side's scoring chances since the duo of Giroud and Morata have been unimpressive so far

Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with AC Milan to swap under-firing Alvaro Morata for Gonzalo Higuian next month.

The Blues boss seems not satisfied with the Spaniard's goal rate in the league having scored just five times in 14 EPL matches so far this campaign.

Having joined the Stamford Bridge outfit in the summer of 2017, the former Real Madrid forward has only scored 16 goals in 45 matches for his present club.

The Mirror quoting Italian news outlet, Sport MediaSet, claims the Argentine's departure is imminent with both parties agreeing to the deal.

According to the publication, the former Juventus star will join Chelsea on a short term loan deal with an option for extension depending on his performance at the club.

Morata on the other hand will move to the San Siro on an 18-month loan spell in a bid to rediscover himself.

Higuain is keen on joining the Blues in January to re-unite with his former Napoli boss Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

The 31-year-old is just six months into his loan move at AC Milan from Juventus, but was due to make the move permanent this summer.

A potential swap deal would solve the immediate problem as Eden Hazard has played as a false nine with Morata and Olivier Giroud both struggling under Sarri.

Both stars however fancy the swap deal according to the Mirror, but Higuain's age could force him to seal a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona defender Jordi Alba was quoted to have said that "top player" Morata would be welcome at the Spanish champions.
