Breaking: Cameroon lose 2019 African Cup of Nations hosting rights

- CAF executive committee members have announced that Cameroon will not be hosting the 2019 AFCOn tourney

- The decision was reached earlier on Friday after a meeting in Accra ahead of the final of the African Women's Cup of Nations final

- They are yet to reveal the country that will host the tournament in the summer of 2019

Confederation of African Football have stripped Cameroon off the hosting rights of the 2019 African Cup of Nations billed for next summer.

The executive of the football governing body met in an extra-ordinary meeting on Friday, November 30 in Accra to arrive at this decision.

They stated the slow pace of construction and renovation of six stadiums - venues for the matches as the reason behind the outcome of the meeting.

According to the information released on their official Twitter handle 'CAF_Online', no country has been named as the next destination for the tourney.

However, they are expected to reveal which of the countries that will stage the championship in June 2019.

"Today, the @CAF_Online Executive Committee met in Accra, Ghana and has decided that @FecafootOfficie could not host the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations – Further information will follow soon."

Legit.ng recalls that Nigeria booked their 2019 African Cup of Nations ticket with one match to spare after playing 1-1 draw with South Africa in Johannesburg.

An own goal from Buhle Mkhwanazi put the Super Eagles in front after just ten minutes of action at the FNB Stadium.

But a well orchestrated goal from Lebo Mothiba in the 26th minute ensured the Bafana Bafana avoided defeat in the game after danger man Percy Tau dribbled past two Nigerian defenders.
