The Akwa Ibom state government has reversed its earlier decision not to allow President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) access to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium for campaign.
The Nation reports that this was contained in a statement issued by the state commissioner for youth and sport, Monday Ebong Uko, on Monday, December 24.

The state government said organisers of the rally are expected to meet with the stadium management for approval.
“Following a decision by Julius Berger Plc to recall their staff from their scheduled holiday, the Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the use of the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo for the flag off of the President’s electioneering campaign on December 28, 2018.
“However, all other terms of use will remain effective.
Organisers of the rally are expected to meet with the stadium management to finalise this approval”.
Legit.ng had reported that the Akwa Ibom state government has denied President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) the opportunity to use the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo for its campaign.
President Buhari has been scheduled to flag off his presidential campaign in the state but according to Premium Times, the state government denied the president and the APC the opportunity.
The state government, instead, has directed the president and the APC to make use of another stadium – the Uyo Township Stadium – which accommodates a far lesser number of people compared to the 30,000-capacity Godswill Akpabio stadium.
Monday Uko who is the commissioner for sport in the state in a statement claimed the denial was based on sporting purpose.
