World's most expensive painting acquired by Saudi crown prince raises concern about its whereabouts

Art means a lot of things to many people, and art lovers all over the world try to preserve beautiful works, especially ones done by great artistes.

A Leonardo Da Vinci painting, Salvador Mundi, which depicts Jesus wearing a blue robe and holding a crystal orb as he gazes directly at viewers, hasn’t been spotted since it was acquired by Louver Abu Dhabi, an art museum located in United Arab Emirates.

The painting is said to have been acquired for the museum via Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman. It was sold for £350million (N163.3 billion), but it hasn’t been spotted publicly ever since.

This has raised concerns about its whereabouts among art scholars and restorers of the work.

Daily Mail reported that Professor Martin Kemp, a scholar who helped validate the art work 10 years ago, revealed that the mystery of the location of the piece is quite disturbing. He further explained that only members of the Arab hierarchy know the where it is.

He said: “The mystery of its location is, of course, disturbing.”

“Nobody outside the immediate Arab hierarchy knows where it is.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Saudi crown prince revealed his interest in buying football club, Manchester United.

Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is the son of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

At the age of 33, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia is already a multi billionaire who reportedly worth £850bn and also owns the world's most expensive home in the world.
