Ahead of the 2019 general polls the United States Consulate General Lagos, F. John Bray, has said that they are looking forward to a free, fair, credible, and non-violent election in Nigeria.

According to Vanguard, the Consulate General made these remarks, while speaking at première of a movie on Friday, November 16, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Consul General noted that the United States has come a long way in its fight against racism.

Bray also used the opportunity to advocate similar reflection by Nigerians as they prepare for the forthcoming general elections. “We are looking forward to a free, fair, credible, and non-violent election in the coming year,” he said.

The U.S. Embassy Counselor for Public Affairs, Aruna Amirthanayagam, on Thursday, November 15, at an event attended by over 110 mid-career and senior-level female lawyers, delivered remarks underscoring the importance of having women in leadership positions in the private and public sectors of the economy.

Legit.ng previously reported that as the nation moves into election mode with the commencement of election campaigns next week, President Muhammadu Buhari has again reassured of a free, fair and credible elections in the country.

The president stated this when he met with a delegation of Imams and senior Islamic scholars in Abuja on Friday, November 16. He disclosed that a number of measures put in place had seen the gradual improvement of elections, as in Edo, Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States.

He said these were different from what he described as “dismal and unacceptable levels witnessed in Rivers and Kogi States.”
