It was an evening of fun, glamour, inspiration and raw emotions at the ballroom of the prestigious Oriental Hotel Lagos on Sunday, October 28th, 2018 as event planner extraordinaire, Mosunmola Akinwamide hosted a grand event to launch her debut book- The Magic of Moments and foundation- MNA Foundation. Event compères for the evening were XTREME Comedian and Olive Emodi of Wazobia TV.
The Magic of Moments is a multi-dimensional book centred on broad relationship themes ranging from the celebration of love to navigating singlehood (finding a partner, the romance phase and settling into a committed partnership) to planning the wedding of your dreams without succumbing to societal pressures. All from the first-hand perspective of a wedding planner and love enthusiast.
While the MNA Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a mission to provide professional counselling to victims of abuse and provide sexual health support to teenagers in public schools across Africa. And for its first initiative, MNA Foundation has teamed up with the Pad-Up Africa Initiative to educate and empower young teenagers on menstrual health.
The event kicked off with a welcome dialogue by Olive and XTREME, followed by a “meet the author” session where Olive Emodi had a fireside chat with the author of The Magic of Moments, Mosunmola Akinwamide. In bringing more life to already lit evening were 3 star-studded panels on the topics of Singlehood, Marriage and Abuse respectively. On the Singlehood Panel were musician/businesswoman, Sasha P; Sshhh Lingerie founder, Joy Adesanya; actor, Wole Ojo; and celebrity consultant and founder of Live Your Dreams Consulting, Bankole Williams.
On the Marriage Panel were actress Maryjane Ugbaja, author of The Richer Woman and convener of the Do It Afraid conferences, Omilola Oshikoya; and aviation/maritime lawyer, Gbenga Oshikoya. While on the Abuse Panel were Nigerian women’s rights activist & president of Women Arise for Change Initiative, Dr Joe Odumakin; the celebrity shrink and psychiatrist-in-chief of Pinnacle Medical Services, Dr Maymunah Kadiri; and internationally acclaimed sexuality education & family life coach, Praise Fowowe.
In between the panels was a jarring presentation on domestic abuse in Nigeria by Dr Joe Odumakin. In adding colour and vibe to the event were musical performances by Banke, Mela and Mavin Records’ Johnny Drille; and a spoken word performance by Benny Finisher.
The event rounded off with a book signing session with the author and an after-party with DJ Cypha on the deck serenading the guest to classic and latest tunes. The author, Mosunmola Akinwamide, speaking about the book said, “I am elated that these two milestones have finally come to reality, and for the tremendous support I have received so far. It is my belief that this book and foundation will contribute to making the world a better place.”

Mosunmola Nicole Akinwamide is a certified event and wedding planner, and the author of The Magic of Moments. She got certified as an event planner in 2016 by the Event School London and has since become a highly sought-after wedding and destination event planner in Africa.
