Super Eagles to receive N9m for every goal they score against South Africa

- Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has vowed to give the Super Eagles $25,000 for every goal they score against South Africa

- Both teams battle for the leadership of Group E in their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, November 17

- The Bafana Bafana cruised to 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture at the Uyo international stadium in 2017

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has vowed to gift the Super Eagles a sum of $25,000 for every goal scored against South Africa in this weekend's 2019 African Nations Cup qualifier in at the FNB stadium Johannesburg.

The country's national team are currently camped in Delta state ahead of their crunch clash against the Bafana Bafana on Saturday, November 17.

It will be recalled that Gernot Rohr's men suffered a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture at the Uyo international Stadium in 2017.

Though, they sit atop of Group E with nine points - one point better than Stuart Baxter's men and this weekend's game will determine who finishes atop of the log.

"I am pleased to have the Super Eagles here in Asaba. We hope you make Asaba your home, and as a people, we will begin to follow your progress even more closely," Okowa during his surprise visit to Eagles camp.

"We appreciate the giant strides Nigerian football is making and commend the leadership of the NFF for making Delta State part of its success story.

"For every goal scored by the Super Eagles in Johannesburg on Saturday, we pledge a reward of $25,000.

"Please don't put a limit to the number of goals you score on Saturday; try and score as many as possible."

The governor also promised to host the team when they return to the country as they will be playing a test game against Uganda on Tuesday, November 20.

He continued, "When you are back we are also going to host you here in Asaba.

"We want you to stay strong and success will be yours, because, we are a praying state and we are confident that you are going to South Africa to get a lot of goals; continue to work hard, you are on a national assignment, a call to service and you will succeed."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has named his 23-man squad for the 2019 AFCON qualifying match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in November.

Captain of the team John Obi Mikel was not named on the list, and Ahmed Musa is expected to be given the armband against South Africa in Johannesburg.
