Super Eagles stars show good skills in training ahead of South Africa clash (photos)

- Nigeria had a feel of the FNB Stadium, venue of their Group E AFCON 2019 qualifier top-of-the-table clash with South Africa on Saturday, November 17

- The team led by stand-in captain Ahmed Musa have vowed to pick up all three points against their host

- Nigeria have not won against South Africa in their last four meetings

The Super Eagles of Nigeria had a feel of the turf of the FNB Stadium (nicknamed Soccercity) on Friday, November 16, as they get ready to battle host South Africa in an AFCON Group E qualifier on Saturday, November 17.

The three-time African champions flew into Johannesburg in the early hours of Friday as they target all three points in Saturday’s Group E top-of-the-table clash with South Africa at the FNB Stadium.

Despite recording seven victories in 13 clashes against Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Nigeria have not beaten their host at senior men level in the last four encounters between both nations.

But the Super Eagles look determined to change that and record their first win against South Africa since January 2014 as the Gernot Rohr's men had a feel of the FNB Stadium, venue of the clash.

The players looked in good mood and shape as they were put to test on their fitness level.

Stand-in captain Ahmed Musa has said he and his teammates are not thinking of a point from the encounter but want to take all three points that will guarantee Nigeria's qualification to AFCON 2019.

He said: “Our determination is to win and pick our ticket to the AFCON ahead of the final matchday next year. South Africa came to Nigeria to beat us and we are here to return the compliment.

“We will not be playing for a draw. We won in Seychelles and against Libya in Tunisia and we are here to win as well.

“They are a strong team and we will not under –rate them. But we are here for the three points."

Earlier Legit.ng reported that Nigeria have not won against South Africa in their last four meetings.

They have drawn three and lost one in their last four meetings against South Africa.

Nigeria are currently topping Group E with 9 points after four games played in the qualifiers. South Africa are occupying second position on the standings with 8 points.
