Legit.ng gathered that the bye-election would held to fill the vacuum created by the death of late lawmaker, Funke Adedoyin.

In a statement by its state publicity secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, the PDP described attacks on its members as reprehensible, unwarranted and unjustifiable.

He said that a combined team of police and the Department of State Services invaded the residence of a PDP chieftain in Egosi community, Oke-Ero local government, Joseph Adeniyi, at about 2am on Friday, November 16.

Ashaolu said: “Chief Adeniyi narrowly escaped from the house but his son, who is a soldier was arrested and taken to unknown destination by the security officers.

“The security operatives also attacked the residences of some PDP stalwarts in Oke-Ero.”

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement by its shairman in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa, said the attack on the party’s candidate in the election, Tunji Olawuyi, had exposed the PDP as a violent and desperate party.
