Nasarawa judicial commission sacks 20 workers for allegedly assaulting CJ

- The Nasarawa judicial service commission has come hard on some of its key staff members

- The commission sacked not less than 20 of its members after they allegedly assaulted the chief justice of the state, Suleiman Dikko

- The workers were also sanctioned for taking part in the industrial action declared by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN)

The Nasarawa judicial service commission has 20 members of its staff for allegedly assaulting Justice Suleiman Dikko, the chief judge, and taking part in the ongoing strike declared by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in the state since Tuesday, November 13.

The affected staff include Jimoh Musa, the state JUSUN chairman, and other officials and key members of the union, Punch reports.

The executive secretary, Nasarawa state Judicial service commission, Hafsat Turaki-Sanda, revealed this on Thursday, November 30, in a statement in Lafia, the state capital.

The statement partly read: “Following a directive of the JSC, the Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko, has approved the dismissal of 20 staff members for physically assaulting the CJ on November 13.”

In the statement, the affected workers were ordered to pick up their sack letters from the executive secretary of the commission.

Moreover, the commission asked them to report to the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters for interrogation on their alleged roles in the attack on Dikko. Other workers were directed to report to work or face a similar treatment.

Concerning the issue, Musa who spoke through Solomon Iyigulu, the public relations officer of the union, said the union was on strike and was not aware of the issue.

However, the JUSUN chairman dismissed the claim that he assaulted the CJ and advised members of the union to continue to stay away from work until they receive further directives.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Akwa Ibom commissioner of police, Musa Kimo, had denied police direct involvement in the state House of Assembly crisis which started on Monday, November 19.

Kimo said this on Wednesday, November 28, as he addressed newsmen on another crisis which occurred on Tuesday, November 27, at the Assembly.

According to him, the police under his watch would always provide level playing ground to everybody in the state.
