The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu, has advised a journalist to write a petition to the anti-graft agency if he is keen to know the source of wealth of the All Progressives Congress chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Magu made the statement after a journalist asked if the EFCC would investigate Tinubu for a video that emerged this year, where the APC chieftain was allegedly claiming that he is richer than Osun state.

The EFCC boss said a proper petition to the EFCC with evidence will show whether the anti-graft agency would go after Tinubu or not.

Magu made the statement on Monday, November 12, in Abuja, while speaking with journalists at an event held in commemoration of his third year in office, The Punch reports.

He said: “You know what? If you are really interested, write a petition and see whether I won’t act. Go and write a petition and substantiate in the petition and find out if I won’t act. It is not for us to listen to people on radio and begin to act. Yes, we have intelligence but the surest way to get action is to go and write a petition and substantiate the contents of the petition and see whether I will not act.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Magu reaffirmed the determination of the commission to extradite former Petroleum Minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke.

Magu told newsmen at a news conference in Abuja that the commission could not “wait endlessly’’ to prosecute the former minister on several allegations of impropriety against her while in office.
