Liverpool legend knighted by Prince Charles (photos)

Liverpool and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish has been given knighthood by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on Friday, November 16.

Bournemouth striker Germaine Defoe was also acknowledged and awarded an OBE by the Prince of Wales in recognition of his efforts through his foundation which supports vulnerable, abused children.

According to Evening Standard (UK), the Scotsman worked closely with the families of the Hillsborough disaster.

"Its humbling, I'm hugely proud of what's happened. You never set out in your life to do anything other than what your parents taught you to do and that;s to be decent people and if somebody needed help you helped the," he said.

The Liverpool legend was honoured for his outstanding career and contributions both on and off the pitch.

He managed Liverpool in two separate spells and won several title while an active player at Anfield.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Liverpool were thrown into mourning on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 after the death of club's legend Ronnie Moran.

Moran who joined the club in 1949 winning 44 trophies died at the age of 83 after brief illness in his house.
