The Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has told Nigerians to hold President Muhammadu Buhari to his words over the promise of a free, fair and credible general elections in 2019.
Daily Trust reports that Sultan Abubakar, who doubles as President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), said this in Abuja at the 2018 Second Annual General Meeting of Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), youths wings summit on Saturday, November 24.

He said: “The youths must not allow themselves to be used by politicians to instigate violence of any kind. And since the President has spoken on the conduct of the coming elections to be credible and free, he should be held for his words.”.
On his part, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Co-Chair of NIREC, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, urged Nigerian youths to work together despite differences in their doctrines.
“We should use our different religions to move the country forward,” he said.

The call by the Sultan comes just as President Buhari on Saturday, November 24, reassured Nigerians that the forthcoming general elections in 2019 will be free and fair.
