England legend Wayne Rooney has taken time out from his farewell game to reveal the secret behind his goals celebration.

The former England captain was handed a befitting send-forth by thousands of English fans at Wembley on Thursday night, as he took to the pitch for his 120th, and final cap for Three Lions.

But moments later he took to the social media to explain the importance of his goals celebration during match.

He noted that the act of raising his hands to the air trying to form a pyramid, was in tribute to his wife's little sister Rosie, who passed away at the tender age of 14.

"When I celebrate it's in memory of my wife's little sister, who sadly passed away in 2013 aged 14, She visited both Alder Hey children's Hospital and Claire House and the care and support the family received was unbelievable," he posted on his official Twitter handle

During the encounter, Rooney substituted Jesse Lingard as he stepped into Wembley in a number 10 English shirt for the last time on Thursday night, and the Three lions did not disappoint after claiming a 3-0 win over USA 3-0.

The DC United player was also handed the captains armband as a sign of respect despite starting the game on the bench.

Goals from the trio of Jesse Lingard, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Callum Wilson ensured the Gareth Southgate's side claimed a resounding win in Rooney's .farewell game.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Wayne Rooney put up his £24,000 Range Rover for sale as he prepares for his final game for the Three Lions against the US tonight.

According to UK Sun report, the Three Lions all-time top goalscorer record is expected to wear the No 10 jersey for the Wembley game, which is also the number on the jeep doors.

The former Manchester United ace Rooney bought the 4X4 Overfinch model jeep since 2009 and has television screens fitted on the back of the front seats and well as other exclusive devices.
