More drama occured at the Ondo state House of Assembly on Monday, November 12, after Bamidele Oloyeloogun, who was impeached as speaker of the House on Friday, November 9, showed up to preside over the plenary.
Olooyeloogun claimed that 2 out of the 18 signatures of lawmakers used to impeach him were forged and so the impeachment is not valid.
The two lawmakers whose signatures were allegedly forged have also come out to support Oloyeloogun's claim, The Punch reports.
The two lawmakers, Sunday Olajide, representing Akure South Constituency II, and Ose Constituency’s representative, Olusola Oluyede, claimed that they were not aware of the impeachment and did not give their signatures for Oloyeloogun to be impeached.
Oluyede said: “I am here to deny the rumour of the purported impeachment. I am not part of it and I cannot be part of it."
Oloyeloogun during the Monday plenary session announced the suspension of Olamide George, who was sworn in on Friday as the new speaker.
He also announced the suspecsion of fifteen other speakers whose signatures appeared on the list of lawmakers who demanded his impeachment.
