Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has slammed the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) for making attempt to prevent President Muhammadu Buhari from commissioning the state’s International Cargo/ Passenger Airport.
Dickson made this known on Tuesday, November 20, in a statement by his special adviser on media and public relations, Fidelis Soriwei, alleged that “the remnants of APC are clinging onto a pernicious plot to demonize the airport for unimaginable, pathetic political considerations.”
Daily Trust reports he said members of the APC “who have become suddenly obsessed with malicious allegations and nonexistent controversy over the crucial airport project are working to prevent its inauguration with the sinister intent to make it an abandoned project for campaign purposes.

''Nothing could be more pathetic and evil than this subversion of the general interest of Bayelsa and indeed the Ijaw nation by a group of malevolent individuals motivated by greed and selfishness.”
Soriwei urged President Buhari and his handlers to be wary of the unpatriotic and destructive intent of a few disgruntled characters masquerading as critics of government
According to him, “The essence of venturing into politics cannot be the selfish promotion of the inordinate and parochial interest of a selfish few to destroy the general good by a few disgruntled political characters masquerading as critics of government.

''It is sad that the APC In Bayelsa have thrown caution to the wind by portraying themselves as enemies of the Bayelsa people and indeed the Ijaw nation.''
Reacting, APC publicity secretary in the state Doifie Buokoribo, however, alleged that the airport project as a cesspit of fraud “which Governor Dickson has used to squander over N80 billion.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Bayelsa state government announced the payment of stipends into the Motherhood Safe scheme.
The scheme, which was part of the state government's plan to recognise the position of motherhood in the society, was inaugurated by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state and a former minister of special duties, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who donated a stipend of N30,000 as his special guest of honour due, commended the government of the state. He also cautioned the people of the state to imbibe in the culture of birth spacing for sound health.
