Breaking: Buhari, Ekweremadu, southeast governors in closed-door meeting at Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly meeting behind closed doors with governors from the southeastern part of the country.

According to The Nation, the meeting started shortly after the governors arrived the State House around 4.07pm.

The deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, is also at the meeting. They were driven to the forecourt of the Presidential Villa in a bus.

Except for the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, the four other governors of the zone including Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu are said to be in attendance at the meeting, Daily Trust states in its own report.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the governors from the southeast zone had agreed to hold a meeting with President Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday, November 21.

Issues such as the second Niger bridge, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu and the non-representation of the region in Nigeria's security apparatus are top items in the agenda of the said meeting

The director general of the southeast governors forum, Professor Simon Ortuanya, revealed this to journalists in his briefing on Monday, November 19.

Ortuanya disclosed that the meeting came as result of the governors’ initial interaction on the pressing needs of the geopolitical zone which entailed the second Niger bridge.
