Atiku's presidential ambition gets boost as 30,000 APC members in Adamawa defect to PDP

- About 30,000 members of APC in Adamawa state have defected to PDP

- The defectors are from the senatorial senatorial district of PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar

- Reverend Habila Istifanus, who led the defectors to the PDP, accused APC of impunity and lack of internal democracy

No fewer than 30,000 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state on Monday, November 12, joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of 2019 general elections.

Sahara Reporters reports that the defectors were led by a popular politician from the southern senatorial district of the state, Reverend Habila Istifanus, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Legit.ng gathered that Adamawa south senatorial district is the home of the PDP's presidential candidate for 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking to newsmen in Yola on Monday, November 12, Istifanus, who lost the APC National Assembly ticket to Abdulrazak Namdas to represent Toungo/Ganye/Jada and Mayo-Belwa federal constituency, condemned APC’s nomination process, describing it as a charade.

He said: “I spent over N25 million on the nomination process but surprisingly, the party hierarchy hijacked the process only to award the ticket to their preferred candidate.

“Now, we have decided to leave that party of impunity; and with a support base of over 30,000 people, we'll work for all PDP candidates at state and national levels.

The PDP's governorship candidate in the state, Ahmed Umar Fintiri, who received Istifanus on behalf of the defectors, urged the electorate to vote out the APC government.

"I'm a certificated candidate,” he said, alluding to Governor Jibrilla Bindow's raging certificate controversy.
